It’s All About Perspective

Last night on my way home, much to my annoyance, I was stopped by a train. Not long after, a few cars behind me started to turn around. As I watched the train go by, a thought occurred to me: none of the cars in the front of the line were turning around. Why? It’s all about perspective; they could see when the end of the train was coming.

It’s the same way in our walk with the Lord. Life brings ups and downs. Most of the time, we don’t know how situations will turn out, because we can’t see the end. But God can. He knows the end from the beginning. It’s not always easy to trust, but we as Christians are to walk by faith, not by what we see. II Corinthians 5:7, “For we live by faith, not by what we see with our eyes.” (The Passion Translation) Trust in the Father is a CHOICE, but the great news is, it’s ALWAYS the right choice.

One of my favorite scriptures in the Amplified Classic Translation is Hebrews  13:5-6, “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me? (underline mine). I don’t know about anyone else, but that comforts me, gives me courage and strengthens my faith!

Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere and he takes note of everything that happens. He watches over his lovers, and he also sees the wickedness of the wicked.” (The Passion Translation)

Psalm 46:10, “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth.” (The Passion Translation)

Another favorite of mine is Proverbs 37:5-8, Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.” (The Passion Translation) Isn’t that beautiful? His Love for us is immeasurable and unending! And, it’s UNCONDITIONAL!

In those moments when you can’t see the forest for the trees, rest in your trust of the One Who sees beyond the trees.
